Preventing Moisture Damage in the Basement With A Sump Pump
Flooding wreckage in the home can occur from any number of reasons, such as a heavy storm or hurricane. It can also occur from leaks or frozen and burst water pipes. There are preventative measures that a homeowner can take to keep their basement water-free and help prevent the most common flooding destruction in basements.
Cracks in basement walls can allow water and moisture to enter. Waterproof coating the basement walls will keep moisture from passing through the walls due to hydrostatic pressure. (Pressure caused by water in the soil.) Any visible cracks should be filled with sealant and waterproof coating should be applied to the walls as directed.
